Kessler moved up two spots in the annual survey, marking the 14th consecutive year that we have been recognized as one of the nation’s best. “Wow… this is certainly exciting and historic news!” said Rob Brehm, Kessler president, when the results were announced. “And how very proud I am of every member of our staff. Recognition like this validates the hard work and commitment to excellence that you demonstrate every day of the year. It recognizes the successful outcomes of our patients and credits our ability to adapt to a changing health care market.” Since joining Select Medical in 2003, Kessler has moved up from sixth to fourth place in 2004 and now to second place in the rankings. “With the support of Select Medical, we have strengthened our programs and reconfirmed our leadership in the field of medical rehabilitation,” said Brehm. Bruce M. Gans, M.D., Chief Medical Officer noted that, “We have earned a reputation for excellence and the respect of our colleagues across the country. It is gratifying that our efforts are recognized in this way, particularly in light of the challenges we face in the field of medical rehabilitation today.” The survey was conducted by the National Opinion Research Center, a social-science research group located at the University of Chicago, through a sampling of board-certified physicians randomly selected from the American Medical Association’s database over a three-year period. Overall, 17 specialties are included in the magazine’s survey, but in five disciplines, including rehabilitation, the rankings are based solely on reputation.
